A mechanical anchor range is more than a list of sizes. The product specification, approved sample and sales-unit configuration need to agree before the range is ready for production and packaging.
T.K. Excellent’s 2016–2017 anchor project records connected product matrices with sample requests, packing sheets and carton information. They illustrate a practical way to coordinate an OEM range without leaving key decisions to the final packing stage.
Compare like-for-like product specifications
Start with an anchor type, drawing or clear product reference. Record dimensions, material, finish and the components included in the assembly. A catalogue name alone may leave important differences unresolved.
The archived sample request distinguished several configurations, including sleeve and hook forms. For a new enquiry, make the supplied assembly explicit and identify the drawing revision against which it will be checked. That gives purchasing and production a common reference.
Separate the performance requirement from the product name
Terms such as “heavy duty” do not establish a load rating. The exact substrate, installation conditions and required technical documents must be defined for the proposed product. Where an assessed fixing is required, the documentation must cover the intended use.
A sample request or packaging matrix supports project coordination; it cannot substitute for product-specific performance evidence. Identify that evidence as a separate requirement in the sourcing brief rather than assuming it is covered by the product description.
Record what sample approval includes
A sample can be approved for dimensions, appearance, finish, packaging or a combination of requirements. State the scope clearly and connect the approved sample to its product reference and drawing revision.
The historical request format includes fields for inspection, retained samples and release. For a current project, a completed approval should show what was accepted, what remains open and which changes require another review.

Build the packing specification from the sales unit outward
Begin with the contents of one retail pack, installer box or bulk unit. Then define units per carton, carton identification and the handling requirements. The archived packing sheets recorded pieces per pack, carton quantities and dimensions, and pallet information as connected fields.
Check the proposed pack with the actual components before releasing artwork or ordering packaging materials. Keep labels and product references consistent across the sample, sales unit and outer carton.
What to include in your request for quotation
- Product reference, drawing revision, dimensions, material and finish.
- Intended application and required performance documentation.
- Sample requirements and the scope of approval.
- Sales-unit contents, outer-pack configuration and labels.
- Destination market, forecast quantities and requested schedule, with forecasts distinguished from confirmed orders.
